Bless the LORD, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name. Psalm 103:1

The Gospel of the Kingdom

The word “gospel” is the “good news” that God, out of His great mercy, made a way for us to be forgiven, so we can live in union with the Him, both now and forever. By Jesus’ sacrifice, He paid the penalty of for our sins, and we receive His forgiveness when we receive His grace by faith alone (Eph. 2:8-9). In Matt. 24:14, Jesus speaks of the gospel as “the gospel of the kingdom.” His kingdom consists of His reign (the reign of the King) in the hearts of His people. Therefore, the good news is not just that we can be forgiven; it’s that we can live under such a glorious and gracious King. This lordship of Jesus is the essence of discipleship, and it’s what brings about the life of true blessing. Therefore, the goal of this section is to convey how living in God’s kingdom enables us to live in His blessing, and how it equips us to share His blessing with the nations.
